Comets News · Comet Gymnasts Score Consecutive Victories over Holt and East Lansing


It was a busy week for Grand Ledge Varsity Gymnastics. Two dual meets and an Invitational kept the Comet gymnasts flipping!

The team started off the week hosting the Holt Rams on Monday, January 22. The Comet gymnasts took first place and individually the team took the top 3 spots on Vault and Beam with one Holt gymnast sneaking in to place on Bars and Floor. Freshman Elizabeth Maurer placed first on Vault and Beam and second on Bars and Floor. Junior Arianna Guerrero placed first on Floor, second on Beam and third on Vault and Bars. Junior Maggie Mullins placed second on Vault and Freshman Kaitlyn Schlagel placed third on Beam.

On Wednesday, January 24th the Varsity gymnasts traveled to East Lansing to compete against the Trojans. The team took place first again and individually placed several gymnasts. Maggie Mullins took first on Vault and tied for third on Floor. Arianna Guerrero placed first on Bars, tied for second on Floor and took third on Beam. Elizabeth Maurer finished first on floor, and second on Vault and Bars. Junior Trinity Thelen tied for third on Vault and Freshman Kaitlyn Schlagel placed third on Bars.

The weekend took the team to Grand Rapids to compete in the Kenowa Hills Invitational held at Kenowa Hills High School. The Comet gymnasts held their own against a tough field of teams placing sixth despite being short a competing gymnast score on floor due to illness. Individually Freshman Elizabeth Maurer placed 8th All Around, first on Floor with a 9.625, and tied for 4th on Vault with an 8.725. Junior Arianna Guerrero tied for fifth on Bars with an 8.55 and Junior Maggie Mullins ties for seventh on Vault with an 8.7.

The Comets are in action again on February 3rd when they travel to the Canton Invitational.
