The Grand Ledge varsity boys’ swim team defeated Jackson Thursday night 83-80 at home.
The Comets were led by Connor Schlagel with a first place finish in the 100 freestyle and a second place finish in the 200 IM.
Teammates Zach Parker (200 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke), Joey Wood (50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke), Jonathan Behrendt (100 Butterfly), Josh Irwin (100 Freestyle) and Samuel Kuntzsch (500 freestyle) all scored important second place finishes for the Comets.
Also scoring on the night for Grand Ledge was Sam Konen, Nate Lehman, Reed Stevens, Nick Diotte, Mark King, Bruno Nogueira, Chad Willobee and Adrian Slear.
“It was an outstanding meet all-around with many swimmers recording new personal bests and swimming new events,” coach Rachel Wiltse said. “The team has been working exceptionally hard during practice and this training has definately paid off with this win.
“We will continue moving forward as we get ready to swim against Holt on Feb 1.”
