Grand Ledge held on in the district championship game Saturday at Okemos, defeating East Lansing 4-3 to claim the Comets first district crown since the 2013 season.
Wyatt Rush drove in what proved to be the winning run and also pitched the final inning for the save o the mound.
The Comets already captured the CAAC Blue title last month.
Dominic Guzman pushed Grand Ledge in front 3-1 in the sixth inning before the Trojans cut the lead to 3-2. Rush hit a solo home run for GL in the seventh to make it a 4-2 lead. East Lansing pushed cut the gap to just one run before stranding runnings at first and third to end the game.
Earlier in the day Grand Ledge advanced to the title game with a victory over St. Johns.
The Comets now get to play at home for the MHSAA Regional, scheduled for Saturday June 10th at Gorman Field.
Grand Ledge will battle Portage Central at 10:00 a.m. in one semifinal. On the other side of the bracket Holt and Howell will square off.
The Regional Championship game will be at approximately 2:00 p.m. at Gorman Field.
