The Grand Ledge varsity baseball team clinched the CAAC Blue Championship on Thursday, beating Holt at home in the first game of a doubleheader to clinch the title outright.
The Comets jumped out to a 4-0 lead with two runs in the first, one in the second and one in the third. Wyatt Rush did the rest on the mound, improving to 8-0 on the season.
Logan Hylek had a two run double in the opening inning to get things going for GL while Xavier Farr tripled in a run in the second inning. Cal Johnston hit a solo blast in the fourth inning.
Holt scored a 4-1 win in the second game behind pitcher Burrell Jones 15 strikeout performance. Rush accounted for the lone Comet run with a leadoff double by Rush and a sacrifice fly by Hylek. Rush was 2 for 3 in game two.
Grand Ledge finishes the CAAC Blue with a 13-1 record and improves to 24-6 overall.
The Comets are at Lowell on Saturday for a 10:00 double header against the Red Arrows.
