Freshman Avery Seling was the second Comet shooter and she converted her penalty like a veteran to keep the pressure on the Hornets. The second Williamston shooter also converted to keep the penalty shootout tied at 2-2.
Hannah deSilva (’18) shot third for the Comets and she also was successful. The third Williamston shooter struck the crossbar and the shot stayed out to give the Comets the advantage.
Cassidy Pettinger was the fourth shooter and her attempt was saved. The Hornets were able to convert their fourth shooter to, once again, tie the penalty shootout.
The fifth shooter for the Comets was Sadie Pettinger (’17) and she finished her attempt to put the pressure on the Hornets. The Hornets goalkeeper was the fifth shooter and she hit her attempt over the top of the goal to give the Comets a shootout victory.
The Comets will travel to Okemos to play the Gold Cup Semifinal. The Comets lost 1-0 to the Chieftains earlier in the year.
