Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Comets Use Williamston Shootout to Gain Experience

The Comets participated in the Williamston Shootout for the fifth consecutive year and used it as a way to gain valuable experience that will hopefully pay dividends as the CAAC Blue schedule continues this week.

In the opening match, the Comets went down 2-0, but answered quickly as Melanie Srouji’s (’18) shot was saved, but Avery Seling (’20) was able to finish it for her 3rd goal of the season.  However, the Comets gave up another goal and fell to Flint Powers Catholic 3-1 in a 40 minute match.

In the 7th place game, the Comets played Whitehall.  In a wild, offensive game, the Comets went down early but responded when Sadie scored her 2nd goal of the day. Avery scored a breakaway to give the Comets a 2-1 lead but Whitehall quickly tied the game and then took the lead 3-2.  Avery then scored again when Sadie put her through to tie the game at 3-3 at halftime.
In the second half, the Comets again conceded an early goal, but responded when Brittany Dale (’17) scored her breakaway with the pass coming from Taylor Werner (’19).  Brittany then scored again when she intercepted a clear to give the Comets a 5-4 lead.  Avery Seling then completed her hat-trick before Kelly Siwek (’20) scored off a punt from Jordan Skutar (’17).  The Comets won the final match 7-4.
