Coming off a quality victory over Rockford, the Comets looked to follow up with a win over Haslett. Last year, the Comets dropped the game against Haslett 4-2.
Early in the game, both teams had a difficult time gaining possession. Just before halftime, the Comets found themselves out-of-position across the field and Haslett was able to take advantage. A good combination play down the left side of the field resulted in their forward getting a pass at the top of the box. She was able to turn and hit a shot into the upper left corner to give the Vikings a 1-0 halftime lead.
The Comets worked hard in the 2nd half to improve play. Their efforts were rewarded as they saw consecutive free kicks result in goals.
A free kick from midfield was served in by Cassidy Pettinger (’19) and found its way to Melanie Srouji (’18) and scored a composed goal to tie the game. Only moments later another free kick by Cassidy found the head of Joey Davidson (’19) to give a 2-1 lead.
However, late in the game, a Viking free kick from just outside the box found its way through a number of players and snuck in the far post.
The game ended 2-2.
