The Grand Ledge varsity girls’ basketball team stepped up the defensive pressure Friday night en route to a convincing 46-29 victory on the road at Okemos.
The win avenges an earlier loss the Comets suffered against the Chiefs at home back in December.
The victory was the sixth straight for the Comets and moves them into second place in the CAAC Blue with a 7-2 record. Grand Ledge improves to 11-4 overall.
The game was a low scoring affair in the opening half with Grand Ledge holding a slim 18-15 edge at the break. Grand Ledge erupted for 18 points offensively in the third quarter to take a 36-21 lead heading into the final stanza.
Sophomore Mackenzie Todd led the way for Grand Ledge with 12 points while senior Brooke Rambo added 11. Junior Maddie McKinley scored eight points, all in the third quarter. Senior Allyson Hunt also reached double figures with 10 points, including eight key points in the opening half.
Grand Ledge is back in action Friday night at home against Jackson. Tip off is set for approximately 7:30.
