The Grand Ledge middle school girls basketball teams traveled to Waverly Middle School Monday night to take on the Lady Warriors.
In the first game the Lady Comets jumped out to an early 12 to 2 lead in the first quarter. The lead extended to 28 points at the half time with GL in front 30-2.
“We moved the ball well tonight and found the open girl,” coach Josh Charter said. “All 10 girls on the team scored led by Anna Davis with 12 points and Emily Nevin with 8 points and 10 rebounds.”
In the late game, it was the Lady Comets jumping out to a 26 to 7 first quarter lead.
“We had a great start to the game tonight. 26 points in an 8-minute quarter is a pretty amazing feat,” coach Charter said.
The Comets pushed their lead to 25 at the half with the score Grand Ledge ahead 36-11. The Lady Comets defense held the Warriors to two points in the second half en route to a 53-13 victory.
Shaelyn Sage scored 10 points on the night while grabbing 7 rebounds. Jessa Powers also added 10 points for the Lady Comets.
