Multiple Teams · Comets Wrestlers Place First at the 2016 Herm Wilkinson Howell Classic

The Grand Ledge varsity wrestling team sent 6 wrestlers to the finals with three of those coming out as champions in their weight class leading the Comets to the team championship of the Howell Classic on December 10th.

103 – Freshman standout Andrew Hughes improved his record to 4-0 by pinning his way through the tournament in route to his first high school championship tournament.

112 –  Ryan Legal finished in second place wrestling beyond his seed in route to a second place finish

119 – Cole Janes made it to the finals and lost a hard fought finals match to Nationally ranked Chad Craft from Ohio.

125- Adam Castaneda – had a good first tournament finishing in 6th place in a tough weight class.

130 – Jack Snauko started off his senior season in dominate fashion pinning or majoring every opponent on the day. Jack was Champion for the second year in a row here and this year was also named the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament.

135 –  Karson Kost – cam beack from an early loss and won 3 matches in a row for a 5th place finish.

215 – Mitchell Krahulik had a phenomenal first tournament of the season winning all of his matches for a first place finish at 215

285 – Nic Lloyd – Started the season out great with a second place finish at heavy weight.

“This was a great way to start the season out and I look forward to some great things not only from these individuals but from the team as well,” coach Steve Delaney said.

Grand Ledge is home on Wednesday for a tri-meet against Lansing Eastern and Eaton Rapids. Wrestling begins at 6:00 p.m.
