A huge defensive stand by the Grand Ledge Varsity Boys Basketball season kept their season alive Wednesday night, holding on for a 43-42 win over Okemos in a Class A District Semi-Final contest.
The Comets will now face Lansing Everett for the third time this season after splitting the first two games. Everett handled East Lansing to advance to Friday’s 7:00 title game against GL at Okemos High School.
Malek Adams led three Comet players in double figures with 14 while J.T. Houghton and Jordan Goebel chipped in 11 and 10 respectively. Grand Ledge struggled from the free throw line, converting over 2 of 11 attempts in the game.
Adams broke a 41-41 tie with with 4:30 left in the game with a steal and layup for a two point lead. It was the last field goal either team would score in the game. The Comets had a great defensive stand in the final minute to secure the win. Goebel’s blocked shot as time expired sealed the deal.
Grand Ledge and Everett both improve to 20-2 on the season. Pre-Sale tickets will be sold in the Grand Ledge High School main office on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
