Stadium Gala 1

The year long fund-raising effort to install a state of the art, safe and consistent surface at the Grand Ledge High School stadium will reach the finish line today with two soccer games and the dedication gala.

The Grand Ledge boys’ soccer program will host the first official athletic contests on the new surface against DeWitt. Between the two soccer games the Grand Ledge Community Stadium Committee has a dedication gala planned to thank and recognize all that donated to the project.

Community members are invited to tour the field from 2:30 to 3:00 p.m. The junior varsity soccer teams will kick off at 4:00 p.m. with a performance from the Comet Marching Band to follow at 5:45 p.m. The dedication ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the evening will conclude with the varsity soccer team taking the field against the DeWitt Panthers.

Work has continued throughout the summer to transform the stadium surface from natural grass to the new surface, which will dramatically increase the use of the facility. This fall high school boys’ soccer will join the Comet football team and marching band in calling the community stadium home. Grand Ledge Community Recreation flag football teams and youth soccer teams will also play their weekend contests on the new turf.

The dedication and commitment of community members along with Grand Ledge Public Schools have turned this dream into a reality. Please plan to come out to the gala celebration today while also supporting the Comet Soccer program.

The Varsity Football team will hit the new turf for the first time later in the week on August 24th for their 2017 season opener against Hudsonville. Kickoff in the non-league battle will be at 7:00 p.m.
