Five GLHS Comets Place at Special Olympics Summer Games

Five Grand Ledge High School students traveled to the campus of Central Michigan University last week to compete in the Special Olympics Summer Games of Michgian.

To place at the swimming competition, athletes must finish in the top six in their event. The Grand Ledge squad led by coach Ann Manning had a very successful swim meet. Here are the awesome results!

Khristian Kelley– 25yd backstroke (GOLD), 25yd Freestyle (Silver), Relay (Silver), 50yd Freestyle (5th place ribbon).

Zach Ruff -25yd freestyle (Bronze), relay (Silver), 50 freestyle (Silver), 25 backstroke (Silver).

Josh Cifaldi-Samuel- 25yd freestyle (Silver), Relay (Silver), 50 Freestyle (Silver) and 25yd backstroke (Silver).

Hope Steigman -25yd freestyle (Bronze), relay (Silver), 50 freestyle (Bronze), 25yd backstroke (Silver).

Payton Harris– 25yd assisted backstroke (Silver), 25yd Freestyle floatation (Bronze).

“Our athletes did a great job,” coach Manning said. “The students should make Grand Ledge proud to call them Comets!”
