The Grand Ledge gymnastics team has struggled at every invitational meet so far this season without a victory. That all changed at the Capital Area Activities Conference championship meet on February 18th.
The CAAC Championship meet was held at Mason High School and the Comets pulled it together when it mattered most with a first place finish, scoring 140.80 putting them ahead of Fowlerville/Byron by just under 1.5 points. Haslett/Williamston/Bath finished in third. Holt, East Lansing, St. Johns/Dewitt, & Mason round out the conference standings.
In individual events, Senior Afton LaFrance was first on vault with 9.35, Sophomore Arianna Guerrero was 2nd with 9.125, and Senior Janelle Hall was 5th with 9.0.
On uneven bars, LaFrance was 1st with 8.90, Sophomore Maggie Mullins was 5th with 8.25, and Guerrero was 6th.
On beam, Hall was 3rd with 9.10 and LaFrance was 5th with 8.775.
On floor, Hall was 2nd with 9.575 and Guerrero was 3rd with 9.55.
In the all-around, LaFrance finished 2nd with 36.025, Hall was 3rd with 35.45, Guerrero was 4th with 34.925, and Mullins was 7th with 34.125.
