Grand Ledge Baseball Sweeps Double Header at Midland

The 2017 CAAC Blue Champion Grand Ledge Baseball team tuned up for the start of the MHSAA Tournament with a sweep of Midland on May 27th.

The Comets won the first game in convincing fashion 14-1 before knocking off the Chemics 8-3 in game two.

Alex Curry pitched 3 innings in the first game to get his 5th win of the year. Dillon Ross pitched the last two frames to seal the victory.

The Comets scored two in the first, two more in the second, another pair in the third before putting the game out of reach with eight in the 4th.  Sam Goodman was 3 for 3 with a double and fiv RBIs. Xavier Farr was 3 for 4 wth a RBI while Cal Johnston was 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBI. Dominic Guzman was 2 for 4 with a 2b and a RBI. We had 14 total hits in the game.
In the second game, GL trailed early 1 to 0 before getting on the board in the third to tie it. The Comets added two more runs in the fourth, and then put five more on the board in the sixth. Elliott Patten started and pitched 3 innings, with no decision. Jake Seling got the win by pitching the 4th and 5th inning.

Kaleb Burke was 3 for 3, Farr was 2 for 4 with a RBI, Wyatt Rush was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI and Johnston was 2 for 4. Grand Ledge totaled 13 hits the 2nd game.

The win move the Comets season record to 30-6. Grand Ledge plays Saturday, June 3rd at Okemos against St. John’s in a district semifinal game.
