The Grand Ledge varsity boys cross country team placed sixth at the Division I Regional held on October 29th at Brighton.
Christian Hubaker and Tyler McCartney remained consistent and finished 4th and 5th respectively in the region.
“Great races by Christian and Tyler qualified them for the state meet as individuals,” coach Anthony Machniak said. “Further back in the pack our 4th-7th Comet boys all ran lifetime bests. Overall we performed to the best of our ability. It was a solid day for Grand Ledge.”
Christian Hubaker and Tyler McCartney will be at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn for the state finals on November 5th and are seeded in the top 0.5% of all Michigan runners.
“With this kind of seeding they are looking at finishing all-state (top 30 individuals) this weekend,” Machniak said. “This will be Hubaker’s 2nd state meet appearance and McCartney’s 1st state meet appearance. Both of them are mentally and physically prepared for a great race and are ready to run.”
Race time for Division I is 2:00 p.m. at MIS in Brooklyn.
