The Grand Ledge varsity football team made it five straight wins last week, celebrating Homecoming with a 42-6 victory over Lansing Eastern.
With the win the Comets improve to 5-1 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 mark in the CAAC Blue. Grand Ledge has three very big games coming up including Friday at always tough Everett before wrapping up the regular season at East Lansing on Oct. 14 and at home on Oct. 21 vs. Holt.
Grand Ledge wasted no time against the Quakers, jumping out to a 35-0 first quarter lead. Nate LaLumia got the Comets on the board when he recovered a Eastern fumble in the end zone minutes into the game.
The lead extended to 14-0 on an Antonio Rush 6-yard scoring run midway through the opening quarter followed by a LaLumia’s second touchdown of the night, this time pick six interception by the Grand Ledge senior.
Iszy Ogden-Colesten found paydirt from 3-yards out to close out the scoring for Grand Ledge.
The Comets hope to make it six in a row at Everett Friday. Kickoff against the Vikings is 7:00 p.m.
