The Comets set the tone early as Aric Phinney (’18) found a nifty through ball for Kyle Salisbury (’17). Kyle went around the Everett goalkeeper and slotted home his fourth goal of the season. Only minutes later the lead was doubled as Phinney again served as the playmaker when his cross was finished by Nate Cox (’18). The score was 3-0 in favor of the Comets after only 12 minutes when Phinney this time became the goal scorer. Kyle was able to dance through a number of Everett defenders before his floated cross was finished by Phinney.
Just before halftime, the Comets made it 4-0 when Jared Simmer’s (’17) cross was finished first time by Brendon Selby (’18).
The second half was more mundane, but the Comets were able to add two goals to their tally. Kyle Salisbury scored his second of the game and team-leading fifth of the season. Jared’s low cross was flicked on by Nate and Kyle smashed home the goal. The final goal was scored by Nate Cox, his second of the game and fourth of the season, after Kyle again danced through the Everett defense. His initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but Nate cleaned it up.
Blaine Teahan (’17) recorded his seventh shutout of the season and has only conceded a total of 3 goals in the team’s nine games.
