Varsity Baseball - Diamond Classic v DeWitt

The Grand Ledge varsity baseball team rallied for an early 4-0 deficit, scoring 10 unanswered runs to defeat DeWitt 10-4 to advance to the championship game of the Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Classic Championship.

The defending champion Comets improve to 30-4 overall and will play for their third straight title against rival Holt Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. at Cooley Law School Stadium in downtown Lansing.

The title game will be a rematch of Saturday’s MHSAA district tournament battle, a game that the Rams won to eliminate the CAAC Blue champion Comets from the state tournament.

Brendan Baker threw five scoreless innings in relief while the Comet offense ignited in a big way. Grand Ledge rallied to take a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning before erupting for five runs in the seventh inning.
